Grid sampling is an intensive site specific soil sampling scheme. With this method of sampling a field is divided into equal sized blocks or grids, the most common being 2.5 acre (330 ft. x 330 ft.), with a soil sample being taken from the center of each grid. This intensive sampling approach is a way to try and better define the fertility and pH variability within a field. Soil test results are interpolated and can then be used for creating variable rate fertilizer and lime prescriptions.
